Simon is one of the beneficiaries under the AFCA project having received agricultural seeds, training and livestock.
He tells us, “Before we received support, life was so rough. Education, medical attention, food and housing among others were all a big challenge. But now, this is no more." In fact as we departed his home, he was taking one of his children for medication in a nearby drug shop.
Currently, Simon has two mature goats and two kids they bore have also matured and he will soon be passing them on to another family. He notes that it’s very imperative to take care of the livestock as much as we take care of our children because without that care, they will fall sick and eventually die. We are pleased that Simon has taken their care seriously and attends the livestock workshops offered.
The medical, economic, health as well as the nutritional challenges that used to be predominant are now well managed. He’s able to meet the children’s education and medical requirements, buy them clothing and also ensure that they enjoy a balanced diet enjoying some potatoes. All possible because of the agricultural and livestock projects funded and monitored by AFCA.
The team here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS thanks you for supporting this project and the work we do for the children in Africa. If you would like to learn even more about what we do or how you can meet some of the children you have helped, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.
