7 social campaigns in 5 communities all over Bulgaria were organized by the 2015 GLOW Leadership Academy trainers. The initiatives took place February - April and included:
The campaigns took place in Dobrich, Haskovo, Kavarna, Sofia and Stara Zagora and involved more than 200 people of all ages and social background.
The GLOW alumna Reni Pavlova planned and realized an activity day for the children with disabilities living in the Center for Family in Dobrich. Reni, who is passionate about helping others, shared: “As in Bulgaria people with diseases are mostly kicked out and bullied by the society, I thought that this initiative is going to be of a big importance to get out of the box. I asked for more information about the kids and was very interested in their stories. I wanted to be prepared for my visit. I knew their names, age, favorite activities and so on. I did a CD with Bulgarian children songs, bought colorful balloons and sweets for the children in regards to their own tastes. I spent my day with the kids. We listened to music, read books, communicated as much as we could and I helped with the lunch and dinner (as some of them could not eat alone). I really enjoyed my time with the kids and I think that I made them feel much better than before. By the time I got home I got a call from the Centre and they were very grateful for my visit. They said that in their opinion I would have a big importance in the children`s development. I was kindly invited for another visit as soon as possible. I was very happy to hear that, so I was on line the next day and spent again good time with the kids.”
