GlobeMed at UC, November 2014 Update

Dear GlobeMed at University of Cincinnati Supporters,

We are excited to update you on the start of the 2014/15 year! Our chapter has been fortunate enough to have added nearly 40 new members this fall, and we cannot wait to see what we can all do together to make a difference in the movement for global health equity and social justice. As we start our year filled with raising awareness, fundraising for our project, and sharing our passion for our work with others, we wanted to stop and say thank you to all the amazing people who have made our three successful years as a chapter possible - including you!

Since our humble beginning in 2011, our chapter has grown from 16 founding members to over 75 staff members and alumni! We have raised nearly $38,000 and implemented three successful health education projects in the rural Burmese migrant worker villages in the Phop Phra district of Thailand. We have been recognized by our university as an organization that promotes global health equity and provides education to other students about how they can make an impact, a tangible difference, in this world. This has all been made possible because of the support you have shown our organization, and for that we thank you.

This year, we have established a fundraising goal of $10,000 to implement a new phase in our overarching program - the Community Health Outreach Program - which provides Burmese migrants who live in rural villages in western Thailand with health education regarding reproductive health, preventative health, mental health, and hygiene. We are working to expand our programs to a younger population by starting educational programs in migrant schools and constantly training Peer Educators to be sources of knowledge in each of these migrant communities. In order to keep our programs going and expand them, we ask that you consider supporting us again this year. To us, your support can look like many different things - from monetary donations to spreading the word about our work. All we ask is that you think about maintaining your spot in our support network and being a part of our movement.

As the calendar year reaches its end, GlobeMed at UC is looking to all the events yet to come this academic year and we cannot wait to share our accomplishments with you!

Yours in Health,

Ceejay & Codee Boyce
