During this reporting period, Tahanan ng Pagmamahal Children’s Home, Inc. (TPCH) continued to provide care, protection, and support to forty (40) children, ranging in age from six (6) months to fourteen (14) years old. These children came from vulnerable backgrounds: including abandonment, neglect, voluntary surrender, and foundling cases. Some had also experienced orphanhood or trafficking, making it essential for the institution to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where they can heal, grow, and build a brighter future.
Of the forty (40) children under our care, Twenty-four (24) are enrolled in schools outside the shelter. Six (6) children attend daycare, while eighteen (18) are enrolled in the K–12 program, from Kindergarten through Grade 12. To help them attend school comfortably and confidently, all school-enrolled children were provided with uniforms, comfortable shoes, school bags, and other essential learning materials.
Through the generosity of our valued donors and the continued support we receive through GlobalGiving, TPCH is able to meet these essential educational requirements. Providing new uniforms help the children feel comfortable and prepared for their daily classes, while shoes, bags, and school supplies ensure they have the necessary materials to participate in learning activities. Although these contributions may seem simple, they make a meaningful difference in the children's lives. They help create a positive learning environment where children can focus on their studies, discover their abilities, develop their confidence, and believe in their potential to achieve their dreams.
Beyond education, every child deserves access to proper medical care, timely treatment, and a safe environment that promotes good health and well-being. Ensuring the children's health remains one of TPCH's priorities, particularly because they live together in a residential setting where illnesses can spread more easily.
During the reporting period, eight toddlers developed fever, cough, colds, and other respiratory symptoms, including influenza-related illness. To safeguard their health and minimize the risk of infection spreading to other children, they were temporarily isolated and placed under the close supervision of the center's registered nurse. They also underwent medical consultations and laboratory examinations conducted as part of their assessment by the private consultant Pediatrician. Based on their medical conditions, appropriate medications were prescribed, and the affected children recovered after one week of treatment and monitoring.
One infant was also temporarily isolated due to fever and remains under close observation to ensure appropriate care and timely intervention. Meanwhile, the older children have generally remained healthy, although some have experienced occasional coughs and colds associated with changing weather conditions.
Managing illnesses in a residential childcare facility requires extra vigilance, as children share common spaces and daily activities that may increase the risk of infection. Temporary isolation, medical consultations, laboratory tests, prescribed medications, and continuous monitoring are essential measures to support the recovery of sick children while protecting the health and safety of everyone under the institution's care.
However, providing adequate medical care goes beyond treating illnesses as they arise. It also involves ensuring that every child has access to timely medical consultations, necessary laboratory examinations, appropriate medications, and follow-up care. These essential services place additional demands on the institution's limited resources, particularly when several children require medical attention at the same time. Despite these challenges, TPCH remains committed to prioritizing the children's health and ensuring that their medical needs are addressed promptly and appropriately.
Our mission extends beyond providing temporary shelter and basic necessities. We strive to give every child the opportunity to receive quality education, nutritious food, proper medical care, and protection from all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We want each child to feel safe, valued, and supported as they grow, learn, and work toward a better future.
With your continued generosity and support, we can sustain these essential services and help transform the lives of the children entrusted to our care. Every donation, whether big or small, helps provide the resources they need to remain healthy, continue their education, and experience the love, protection, and opportunities every child deserves. Together, with the support of compassionate donors like you through GlobalGiving, we can continue building a brighter, safer, and more hopeful future for the children of Tahanan ng Pagmamahal Children’s Home, Inc.
