Moving towards major project stride
By Mary Mutuku | Project Officer
It is my pleasure to present our third project progress report (November 2018-January 2019) for the project; “Giving children a chance to grow and learn” which is aimed at sustaining the water supply and improving sanitation to Mutulani Schools and community, in Makueni County, Kenya.
This project was approved in May 2018 and it is still managing its formative stages strains of making the project known (raising more friends to our donor database to enhance the project achieve its goal). So far, the community has received a number of commitments from identified new friends who have assured their support towards the project. Some of the major commitments are by the County Government of Makueni where the Minister, Hon Bob Kisyula, who reported that plans are underway to equip all boreholes within the County. He assured that Mutulani sunken Borehole is among the prioritized projects to be completed in the year 2019.
The Mutulani Secondary school Head Teacher also reported that Mutulani stakeholders and its friends have also committed to support this new project. PEN, Mutulani Community and Mutulani schools appreciate our donors both local and international for this selflessness in supporting this noble cause.
It is our humble request to our Donors to Kindly share this link to the new project: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/giving-children-a-chance-to-learn-and-grow/

Establishing a firm foundation
By Mary Mutuku | Project Officer
It is my pleasure to present our project progress report for its second quarter (August-October 2018), since its approval in May 2018. The project; “Giving children a chance to grow and learn” is aimed at sustaining the water supply and improving sanitation to Mutulani Schools and community, in Makueni County, Kenya.
During this period, the project has embarked on sensitization to bring the community and new friends both internally and outside the country to establish a strong fundraising base to enhance the achievement of our project objectives. A move that has made fundraising easier is the partnership between GlobalGiving and M-Changa, a Kenyan Mobile Money fundraising platform in collaboration with M-Pesa has greatly enabled local fundraising efforts, especially for those looking to donate in the local currency, Kenya Shillings. We believe this year will record the highest number of contributors during the end of year Campaign.
Kindly follow this link and share with friends our new project: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/giving-children-a-chance-to-learn-and-grow/
PEN and the Mutulani community are once again grateful to all our donors who have begun this journey with us to transform lives of Mutulani people to sustain the available water sources.
Thank you

A promising beginning
By Mary Mutuku | Project Officer
It is my pleasure to present our first project progress report for its first quarter (May- July 2018). The project; “Giving children a change to grow and learn” is a continuation of the “Provide safe and clean water for 1500 Children and Women in Mutulani community” aimed at sustaining the water supply and improving sanitation to Mutulani Schools and community, in Makueni County, Kenya.
PEN, the Mutulani Primary and Secondary Schools and the entire Community are happy and appreciate Global Giving for the approval of this new project. After the introduction of the Mobile giving tool with M-Changa (donating through M-Pesa), it is evident now that local fundraising has been made easier. Local community members have demonstrated participation in giving towards the success of the project with much ease since more than 90% of Kenyan mobile money transfer users use M-Pesa.
During the July 2018 Global Giving Rewards bonus day, community members began donating even as little as $ 0.5 towards the project. We are anticipating achieving this project objective earlier than the initial project.
We are calling upon all our donors who have began this journey with us to continue supporting this noble cause towards achieving water sustainability in Mutulani and the surrounding areas as well as improving sanitation in the schools giving them an opportunity to learn and grow.
Thank you.
