Since the inception of Macheo, we have seen too many babies being abandoned with no one to care for them. You and I can change this! Your investment in this project will provide 8 babies with a (temporary) safe, nurturing environment at our Baby House. Meanwhile, we work towards long-term solutions such as kinship care, family reunification, or adoption. With dedicated caregivers providing round-the-clock care, we will ensure they receive all the love and support they need.
Approximately 3.6M children in Kenya are abandoned. Look at baby Jane, just a few days old: she faced the unimaginable. Her mother, battling mental illness with no support, was unable to care for or even breastfeed her. Things weren't looking good for her. Her story is one of many. Families face numerous challenges. Mothers don't willingly abandon or neglect their babies, but extreme poverty, lack of social support, and unwanted pregnancies can leave them feeling helpless with limited options
The first 1,000 days are critical to a baby's development. Without proper care during this period, the consequences can be lifelong. Our program is designed to address the rising cases of child abandonment and neglect by providing holistic care for 8 abandoned babies (current). It ensures they grow up secure, healthy, loved, and with better life opportunities. We also work on long-term solutions to ensure that they will have a better future such as family reunification, adoption or kinship care.
Macheo provides abandoned babies with the chance to grow up secure and loved. So that they can establish healthy relationships with others in the future. By prioritizing family reunification, kinship care, or adoption, we strengthen the family unit, which is very important in Kenya. We are reducing abandonment cases, leading to healthier children in the community. Additionally, the project raises awareness on child protection, encouraging community involvement in protecting children.
