Update Give Zambians the health they deserve

By Braulio Otarola | Executive Director

Greetings Amazing Supporters,

We are excited to share the latest updates from Entre Tribus. These past months have been filled with progress, learning, and impact across our projects in Africa. Your support continues to drive the positive changes we are making, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

Dental Project Updates from Sichili, Zambia

Our volunteer dentist, Daniela  , has been hard at work in Sichili, making remarkable progress with our dental project. After an adaptation period in May spent establishing connections with various organizations, Daniela began her clinical work in June.

  • Clinical Treatments: Over the course of the first three months, Daniela performed over 96 extractions, 30 restorations, and several other procedures, providing much-needed dental care to the community.
  • Community Outreach: Daniela also conducted community outreach programs, visiting the communities of Lwamwua and Kasinsi. A total of 130 patients were examined, and educational sessions were provided to approximately 20 children in each village.
  • School Education Programs: In July, Daniela led two health education sessions in local schools, reaching a total of 118 students between the ages of 13 and 18. These sessions focused on promoting oral health, an essential step in preventing future dental issues in the community.

Nutrition Project in Sichili

In 2023, a team of collaborators was formed in Chile, and volunteers were selected to implement the project on-site. Sofía Puig, a nutritionist, will travel to Sichili in December 2024, and Natalia Lara, an agronomist, will join the team in January 2025. Both volunteers have been working closely with the coordination team in Zambia for several months, refining the details of the nutrition and garden project.

As the project progresses, ongoing evaluations will be conducted to monitor progress and ensure that the established goals are met. The final evaluation will document the achievements and lessons learned, allowing for improvements in future projects. The preparation and coordination between the volunteers and the Zambia team are crucial to the success of this project, which aims not only to improve the community’s nutrition but also to empower its members by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to sustain lasting changes in their diet and health.

Volunteer Opportunities and Ongoing Projects

We're continually looking for dedicated individuals to join us in Africa. If you have a passion for healthcare, education, or sustainable agriculture, we would love to welcome you to our team. Currently, we're seeking:

  • Medical Volunteers: To support ongoing medical projects in Sichili, Zambia, and continue the work being done in local communities.
  • Garden Project Volunteers: This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in sustainable agriculture to make a lasting impact on food security in rural communities.

Thank You for Your Support

Your ongoing generosity enables us to continue making a difference in the lives of so many. We are proud of the progress we’ve made together and excited about the future. Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to get involved or learn more about our work.

Until our next update,
