This progress report outlines the implementation status of the project “Keep 1,000 Families Warm This Winter in Bangladesh.” The project was launched to provide winter clothing and blankets to vulnerable populations facing life-threatening cold conditions. While the original target was to support 1,000 vulnerable people, progress during this reporting period was significantly constrained by limited funding.

During the reporting period, the project received USD 40 in total donations. Despite this modest amount, GFI initiated the intervention and delivered winter clothing to those most in need, demonstrating commitment to the project’s humanitarian objectives.

Following the project launch, GFI coordinated with local volunteers and community members to identify individuals at highest risk from extreme cold. Priority was given to elderly individuals, daily wage earners, and others lacking adequate winter protection.

With the USD 40 received, GFI procured essential winter clothing items, including warm garments suitable for immediate use. Through careful budgeting and local sourcing, winter clothes were provided to three (03) highly vulnerable individuals.

Distributions were conducted directly within the community to ensure transparency, dignity, and timely support.

• Severe funding limitations: The funds received covered only a very small fraction of the originally planned beneficiaries.

• High demand: Community needs far exceeded available resources, with many vulnerable individuals remaining unserved.

• Seasonal urgency: Winter conditions required immediate action, limiting the ability to wait for additional funding before starting implementation.

• 03 vulnerable individuals received warm clothing, reducing their exposure to extreme cold and associated health risks.

• Community trust and engagement were strengthened, as beneficiaries witnessed tangible action despite limited resources.

• The project framework, volunteer network, and beneficiary identification process were tested and validated for future scale-up.

Although the project could not reach its intended scale during this winter, GFI views this initial phase as a foundation for future expansion. Lessons learned from this cycle will inform improved planning and fundraising strategies.

Next steps include:

• Strengthening donor outreach and fundraising efforts ahead of the next winter season.

• Expanding partnerships with local groups and potential sponsors.

• Preparing early procurement and beneficiary lists to enable faster, larger-scale distribution next year.

The “Keep 1,000 Families Warm This Winter in Bangladesh” project was successfully launched, but implementation during this period was limited by the receipt of only USD 40 in donations. With these funds, GFI was able to provide warm clothing to three vulnerable individuals—small in scale, yet life-saving in impact.

The Green Fund Initiative remains committed to expanding this program and is hopeful that, with increased support next year, many more vulnerable people can be brought under this winter protection initiative, ensuring warmth, dignity, and safety for those most at risk.
