We urgently need to prepare!
![]()
Dear supporters of our Solar Panel Project on Kara Tepe,
First of all - Thank you for your support!
We would like to use this opportunity to inform you not only about the current solar panel project but a bit more about the situation on the ground:
Moria is Full
Moria is a detention center where all refugees pass through to get their registration when they arrive onto the island of Lesvos. The camp is currently over capacity by almost 2,000 people. It is a dire situation, with over-congestion of the camp with not enough space to sleep or live. Families are currently sleeping on tents on the ground - which is nowhere near warm enough for the freezing temperatures that are coming ahead.
Preparing Ahead - We're trying to provide relief, warmth and protection for the winter months to come!
The camp where we work on, Kara Tepe is currently trying to accomodate this over congestion by building more and more iso-boxes.We are working hard to make sure that all of these additional isoboxes also have solar panels installed.
Thanks to the support from private donors - with the help of our camp residents, we have been able to facilitat 21 new housing units over recent months that have solar panels ready! This is a good start but we still need much, much more.
Materials Request
We would like to request for more materials to build more. Please help us by spreading the word in your network to build up more iso-box homes with solar panels!
Thank you for your support, on behalf of the communities on the island of Lesvos.
With gratitude from Kara Tepe.
