Give leadership training to 50 trafficked girls

Hello! I hope this note finds you doing well and enjoying your summer. This project is ever more important as the Rohingya, a Muslim ethnic minority population originally from Burma and Bangladesh have experienced increasing persecution from the Burmese government, as many of you are have likely read in the news in the past month. Mass graves have been found along the border and within Thailand and thousands have been stranded at sea without food or water for many days, prompting international intervention from several countries, including the US in rescuing and providing services to these victims of (primarily) human trafficking (some were smuggled).

As you know, our project aims to help girls who are ethnic minorities from many tribes and countries, as well as those from the surrounding Greater Mekong Subregion in Thailand, including Burma, the Yunan province of China, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Leadership training is so very important to allow these young women to return to their home countries and work on the front lines - particularly in a country like Burma, where there is a great need for leaders. Foreigners can’t work in many places where these girls can, and it’s so key to prepare them well for the work that they are uniquely suited to do. Thanks to you we are almost half way to our goal of $10,000. You have contributed $4,855 and we believe that by spreading the word, we can raise the remaining $5,145 to launch the project with all the girls who are selected.
