Give Kids in Angola Access to Education!

Greetings!

Thank you for your generous support, giving more kids in Angola access to education. Some of you give monthly and some donated on GlobalGiving's July Bonus Day for which we are very grateful! During the course of the 24-hour campaign, $10,050 was given, and with a $1,354 proportional match, $11,404 was received by RISE!

Every child has the right to education, yet several million children in Angola do not have the chance to go to school. The population has more than doubled since 2003 when the first RISE school was built, and is now estimated to be 40.2 million. The median age in Angola is 16.7 years, compared to 39.4 in the U.S., reflecting the significant population growth, increased number of children, and escalating need for more schools.

RISE builds primary schools to educate children, empower communities, and contribute to the rebuilding of the country. School construction is foundational, and is a critical intervention and contribution, as Angola faces a massive classroom shortage. The World Bank data shows that over 30% of children remain out of school. Many walk long distances, attend class outdoors and under trees, in dilapidated buildings or tin structures... the conditions are challenging, harsh, and inadequate.  

Education is a key driver of growth and economic development. What we do is important. Much has been accomplished, but there is a huge opportunity to do more, and give more children access to education. Thank you for your part in helping make that a reality!
