As the economy has worsened, some of the parents of the kids at McKenna Farms in Dallas, Georgia, for whom hippotherapy has been prescribed have lost their jobs. There's no insurance, and no money to afford the fees for therapists and maintaining the horses.
Since hippotherapy is an almost-miraculous treatment that enhances a child's life in so many ways, from the sense of freedom of movement on the horse to increased balancing ability to improved speech and vocabulary, we at The Red Thread Promise-Jacob's Fund find it more important than ever to keep in touch with the extensive network of donors that Global Giving reaches.
That's why we'd like to continue posting our project on Global Giving's site. We're sure donors will want to help these children as they grow in awareness of the need and the difference their giving makes in children's lives.
The funding we've been able to provide brings smiles to kids like Leslie and Preston. These children, who might otherwise be imprisoned in their own body, unable to communicate or move on their own, are developing the skills to live the fullest lives possible.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
