Bringing Hope to 70 Vulnerable Older People in DRC

By AGIZO | Cordinator

Growing older should never mean being forgotten. Yet in Goma, many vulnerable older people face loneliness, family abandonment, poverty, and limited access to food, medicine, and basic care. Some also experience rejection and harmful accusations because of their age. For those living without reliable family support, meeting everyday needs can become a constant struggle.

Through Bringing Hope to 70 Vulnerable Older People in DR Congo, we aim to provide 70 older people with financial assistance to help cover essential needs, particularly food and medicine, while offering emotional support and opportunities to reconnect with their community. The project is currently in its preparation and fundraising phase. We are identifying suitable trainers and prospective participants to help ensure that implementation is well organized and responds to the needs of the people we intend to serve. Activities will begin once the necessary resources are secured.

Our fundraising target is $10,000, and no donations have been received through the campaign so far. Although this means that direct assistance has not yet begun, we remain committed to making this project a reality. Through our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we are working to increase the project's visibility, reach more potential supporters, and mobilize the resources needed to achieve our goal. Once funding is secured, it will support the planned assistance and related project activities, with funds managed responsibly according to the project's needs.

We warmly thank GlobalGiving for providing a platform through which our mission can reach a wider community of compassionate donors. We also invite individuals, organizations, and supporters around the world to stand with these 70 vulnerable older people. Every contribution, whatever its size, can help bring us closer to a future in which older people are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign. Together, we can turn this commitment into practical support for older people who deserve to live with greater security, care, and hope.
