Mobility has always been a lingering problem to persons with physical or orthopedic disability. This is one of the main cause or barrier to participation of persons with disability in education, employment or economic growth, socialization and in living independently in the community.
the Las Pinas Persobs with disability Federation's Give Hope from Home program has awarded wheelchairs to individuals with mobility impairments that really helped improve the child's participation in the community .
First on the list is Jamelle Fat
19 years old, born with Clubfoot, and identified as a person with Orthopedic disability. The officers from their group Barangay Talon Singko persons with disability association upon their visit to Jamelle's household learned from his family members that his wheelchair is already old and rusty and sometimes Jamelle finds it difficult to use when going to and from school. Since he is on a wheelchair it's hard for him to commute and use inaccessible transportation like tricycles and heepneys. So he uses his wheelchair to school this is why after several years it is already delapidated . So the wheelchair that was given by LPPWDFI thru the Give Hope from Home program was very timely on his graduation day use. and will be very helpful in his College journey.
Another receipient of wheelchair bought by through GlobalGiving funds is Samantha faith paltep hermosa a child with cerebral palsy born Jan 31 2019 and is now 6 years old and resides at Block 9 Lot 2 daisy ext.vergonville subd pulang lupa. . His father is a tricycle driver and after work they enjoy riding together and visiting parks for his daughter to enjoy what other kids without disabilities enjoy also which is to play. And this simple joy of playing at the park on her wheelchair together with other kids is already overwhelming happiness to Sam.
last but not the least among beneficiaries of wheelchair is Rochelle a Villajuan who is a child with cerebral palsy and lives in Barangay Talon dos with 5 other siblings . She is the eldest and being taken cared of by her mother Cherry Alferez, who is a solo parent since her husband died 3 years ago due to heart attack. Having to send 5 children to school and only one in college, and she works as a housekeeper in one of the villages in their Barangay, Being the lone breadwinner of the family they just have enough to make ends meet this is why buying a wheelchair for Rochelle seems a luxury for them especially that she uses a special type of wheelchair that is tailor for those with cerebral palsy. This is why the new wheelchair from Give Hope from home really helps them slot whenever Rochelle needs to go to the Las piñas General hospital for check ups or therapies . Since Rochelle is most of the time lying down at home or on wheelchair when her mommy is at work she is prone to pneumonia. So having the wheelchair is very helpful for them during emergencies for safe transfer and travel to hospitals or clinics' This is why they are very much grateful to globalgiving through the GIVE HOPE FROM HOME PROGROM
