The Las Oinas Persins wth Disability Federation Inc ir LPPWDFI started the New Year with a homegrown project `Give Hope from Home`. The team identified families with persons with severe disabilities as member specially those who have been bedridden fir years now.
With the donation given by GlobalGiving Funds the team was able to procure 80 oacks of adult diapers abd distributed it to 40 persons with severe disabilities from the 20 barangay ( villages) in Las Pinas.
Personal Hygiene seems to be at the lsst priorities of families soecially those living below poverty line. But with the high cost of adult diapers now a days, especially after covif, even families with both oarents working are having a hard time addressing tge needs of family members, moreso those with disabilities. One if these necesdities are diaoers, this is the main reason why the federation chose to help those needing diapers atleast 2 packs per xeek.
Active officers of every barangay association together with Officers of LPPWDFI (PRO 1 d, Ms. Mary Jane Canega with Ms. Mona Mijares dustributed and visited houses of the beneficiaries from District 1 whike Carlos Tadeo, PRO 2 together with Jennifer Gomez distributed diapers to those living in District 2. The distribution were made last january 6, 2024. This served as Give Home frim Home Batch 5.
While tge officers disteibuted tge diapers, they also interviewed the family members or guardians taking care of them and they discovered so many who are really in need of support. Like there is thebert, a person with cerebral palsy who has been bedridden for the past 50 years and us now living with his sister in a shanty just enough space forthe two of them. His sister manage to earn a living by taking errands frim neughbors, thus has to leave thebert all by himself at the shanty, and return after finishing the work asked by neighbors. This is why tgebert has to be on diapers all day so his sister can work and leave him at the house after feeding him.
Another beneficiary is a husband and wife frim brgy pulanglupa uno who are both with disabilities now and is living all by tgemselves in their small room. The wife is totally blind and is being assisted by the husband but unfortunately lsst year, 2023, the husband had stroke, so no one will assist her wife anymore. So both husband and wife now needs diapers the whole day. Their children are not living with them and hqve their own families too so they are being helped by neighbors.
