Your generous gifts during the 2022 holiday season are supporting our important work to build food security throughout the Philadelphia area.
Our SNAP Hotline helps families and individuals navigate the SNAP (food stamp) application process by submitting applications on the behalf of callers and providing case management when needed. This year we've already processed hundreds of SNAP applications through our hotline, where we've received nearly 4,000 calls.
We strengthen the emergency food network in Philadelphia through our work with local pantries in our Victroy in Partnership (VIP) network. We have hosted the first quarterly meeting of the year with VIP members where we offer trainings and resources, facilitate discussions around policy updates, and ask about the experiences and needs in our local pantries and soup kitchens. Last month we kicked off a monthly VIP Partner Highlight to feature the people and programs that help Philadelphians access the food they need to live healthy lives.
Through our outreach and advocacy work we raise awareness about food insecurity with communities and lawmakers alike. Since the start of the year, we have participated in 14 community events where we share food resources and connect people with ways to take a stand against food insecurity. We have been very focused on sharing information about the end of Emergency Allotments, which provided extra benefits to SNAP recipients during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We developed an informational flyer about the end of Emergency Allotments with trusted partners which has been made available in six languages.
This impactful work is made possible through your generosity. Thank you for supporting our mission to build a food secure Philadelphia!
