Aakula is the mother of two daughters. She only studied until the seventh grade, and her husband works in construction. The family struggled financially and feared for their future often.
Aakula entered the tailoring school, and her life was turned upside down. She had the opportunity to learn a variety of stitching techniques, but she really loved to make women's clothing.
After a few months of working as a tailor, Aakula saved up enough money to start her own sari shop! She now runs her very own store and continues tailoring as well to bring income into her home. Even better, she is now giving back and teaching other women in poverty how to sew.
Because of your generosity, Aakula says she "is able to make a living and all our needs are met with dignity." She is so thankful for this opportunity to turn her life around.
Thank you for empowering women through sewing!
