For daily wage laborers, any sort of emergency expense can create steep, debilitating debt.
This was the case for Nagadurga and her family. Her husband works in the field, but Nagadurga's health is not good enough for her to join him. She also only has a sixth grade education, further hindering her job options.
Nagadurga and her children have suffered with many diseases, so the family spends much of the money they earn on medicine. This leaves very little funds for other essentials, especially food. Nagadurga was constantly stressed over how to provide for her children.
Then, her friend told her about tailoring schools. Nagadurga applied and is now learning to sew! She will gain the skills needed to work from home while earning enough to cover both medical expenses and basic needs. She says:
"I am very happy and eager to learn tailoring skills and hope for the future. Thank you for giving me this wonderful opportunity."
It's because of you that women like Nagadurga has the opportunity to rise out of extreme poverty!
