Dear well-wishers,
Regards from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch!
Parents’ engagement in children’s learning is the crucial factor, hence in this critical situation where children studying at their home with minimum support from school and teachers it is really important for the parents to be there with the children and support them in their studies. Though it is not that much expected that parents should teach their children, or support them in their learning level. But parents should at least sit with the child and encourage and facilitate them for their regular lessons to attend and should help the child in linking with the school teachers where he/she finds any difficulties. Parents are the first teachers for their children, and they should create a conducive environment at their home for the best learning experience for their children.
In this situation parents are being motivated to understand the importance of Home Learning (an online study concept of Gujarat Government) and how they can help their children to engage in learning. Starting with to choose the available medium for study to submit the examination papers written by their children. This much help from parents will definitely encourage the children for good engagement in their studies.
In this pandemic we at GVT, tries to identify such children who do not able to get the support of their parents, which later going to be difficult for the children to connected with school, after school reopens. Contacting parents and link them with the different active stakeholders with the village, such as School principal, teachers, sarpanch and other active members of the village, who can influence them. These small efforts have helped children to engage in learning positively. Though in this time school is not open but we can say education has not stopped.
As shared earlier, parents’ role in shaping their children’s education is really very we try our best to help the children and parents in engaging with learning. Which will be beneficial for the whole family. Though the efforts are small but we try our best to enhance the learning in across the project villages, where every single person talk positive about education, and together they celebrate the education.
