Minimize the distance from home to school

By Jignesh Christi | Project Leader

Dear donors,

Greetings from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch. It’s been a long time to share the update from field. Give a girl a bicycle – help her to go to school project is running smoothly at the ground level. The girls who have got the bicycles from the support of your and Gram Vikas Trust (GVT) support are going to school on regular basis and studying well.

“Black color is sentimentally bad, but every blackboard makes the student life bright.”

- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

As the academic year has started from June, the school teachers have given new names of the girls who are coming from the poor background and who has to travel more than 8 to 10 km to come to school and reach back to home per day. And we are now in the process to provide the bicycles to these girl children. Till date GVT has given more than 1250 bicycles to the needy girls to support them to attend school. Every year the number of girls are increasing and sometimes we could not able to reach out to the girls. Which may lead the girls to get drop out from school.

GVT is also in touch with the government to provide the transportation facilities for the children, but the scheme of government has some limitations which does not reach to the people, we are trying to bridge the gap between government and the community. We are also trying to mobilize the community people who are financially capable and who can donate bicycle to the needy one.

Our continuous efforts to make the girl child learn is in the progress and we believe that if a girl get education she can educate two families, which will make positive change in society. Need your support to educate the girl child to minimize the distance from home to school.
