Success

By Jignesh Christi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Greetings from Gram Vikas Trust, Bharuch.

“Failure is not the opposite of success; it is part of success.”

- Arianna Huffington

The new academic year 2018-19 has started, many of the girls will stop studying due to distance. Parents will not allow the girl children to go to school by walking to the lonely roads. Also the girls are not motivated by the parents and community for higher education. Some of the girls wish that they could enrolled in higher education, but the community will not allow them to accomplish their wish. And because of so many reasons the girls are not educated in the rural area of Bharuch district.

Gram Vikas Trust, has initiated a small survey, and have identified many of the girls who wish to continue their studies after 5th standard, or 8th standard. There are almost 82 girls from Jhagadia block, who are good in studies and might stop studying due to distance, due to other family and community pressure. In the first survey and visit to some of these girls, our field team has tried to make the parents and girls aware about the importance of education now a days, and convince the parents that to send their girls in schools. GVT may help some of the girls by providing bicycle but they should enroll their girl children for higher education. Most of the parents have agreed for the same but it will be difficult for the team to maintain the relation without giving bicycle, as if the bicycle may not reach to the girls than it will be difficult for the girls to continue their study.

GVT is also promoting some of the village leaders to provide some of the amount to help the girls, other system like rented vehicle or parents drop their girls to the school, GVT is hoping for the best result. In some of the villages these ideas has also worked, and parents have taken initiative in that.

In some of the schools, GVT has started Halla Bol campaign in which the team is promoting attendance in school, from the very first day of school reopen, and it has also some remarkable results, the attendance has seen almost 80% up on the first of the school, which was not able to seen in the first week of the past many years. The team is trying to bridge a strong understanding of the parents on education, so that they can think at their own about importance of education and help their girl children in getting educated.
