Initial Cam Ranh Update

By Tim Younes | Volunteer

No matter where in the world you live it’s never easy learning needed job skills. That’s true in developed countries such as in North America and Eastern Europe and particularly so in places such as Cam Ranh, Vietnam. It’s not just the big things (getting funding, attracting qualified teachers) but it’s the “little” things as well. For instance, in Cam Ranh, there’s no such thing as government supplied transportation. Kids need to walk (sometimes many miles) down dangerous paths and over unsafe monkey bridges. What’s more, families must pay for their child’s books and uniforms and those can stretch - and even break - many a family budget in Vietnam. Even “just” having a basic shoe/sneaker can be the difference between a child being able to go to school or not.

We’ve taken the first step. This past spring, we distributed over 300 shoes to the children in the Cam Ranh area. The delight in the children’s faces was evident. With your future support, we hope to soon start expanding the schools with more supplies and buildings. Stay tuned and thank you for your support!
