Thousands of children in Lahore's poorest marginalized communities attend small community schools with big hopes but no textbooks. Their parents work long hours in brick kilns, factories, and domestic labor, barely earning enough for rent and food. Buying schoolbooks is impossible. This project will provide free textbooks to children so they can learn, stay in school, and break the cycle of poverty and bonded labor.
Children from low-income marginalized neighborhoods arrive in classrooms without the books they need to learn. Without textbooks they fall behind, lose confidence, and eventually drop out. Schools want to support them but have no funds to purchase learning materials for every child.
Chopan Trust will distribute complete sets of textbooks to children across low-cost community schools. We purchase books in bulk, deliver them directly to schools, and follow up through our regular school visits to ensure children use them effectively.
One set of textbooks can change a child's future. Better learning increases confidence, reduces dropout rates, and gives children from bonded labor and extreme poverty a real pathway to dignity, opportunity, and freedom.
