Dear Friends,
We deeply appreciate your support for the vulnerable children attending our Educative Centre in North Macedonia.
Thanks to our donors and supporters we were able to continue the school children program in the last quarter, providing additional educational support for the children and advisory support for the parents, with around 30 children and their parents included in the program.
In the last few months, activities for empowering children and parents on the topic of Digital literacy have been implemented (including themes such us cyber security, protection of personal data, online payment of bills, use of ATMs, use of online services from state institutions). The Roma people face several barriers to accessing and utilizing digital technology, including a lack of resources, skills, and knowledge. These activities has contributed to bridge this gap and helped the Roma parents and children improve their digital skills and knowledge, increase their access to digital technology, and empower them to better navigate the digital world.
With the start of the school year in September we have continued with providing support for the children with after school educational support and providing some necessary school materials for the children and also advisory support for the parents.
Building awareness for the preservation of the environment is a topic that we regularly disscus about with the children and cleaning actions are regularly organized with the children in the neighborhood where the Educational Center is located.
Activities with volunteers and interns from different parts of Europe are also regularly realized in our Educational Center and are always followed by special interest and joy from the children. Through creative and fun activities, we get to know different cultures and traditions.
Unfortunately, due to lack of funding for the program we haven’t reached our aim yet to provide support for our preschool program as well, so it is still put on hold, but we hope for your support so that these vulnerable children could have an opportunity to start with the early childhood development program, which is of great importance for their successful involvement in school later.
