Girls with Potential

By Natalia Maravi | Head of Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships

Over the past three years (2022-2024), Girls with Opportunities (NCO) has made significant strides in empowering girls and adolescents from vulnerable and rural areas. The following achievements highlight the program’s impact and its commitment to long-term transformation:

  • Over 9,559 students impacted across five regions of the country: Amazonas, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Huancavelica, Lima, and Callao.
  • Significant increases in students’ capacities, attitudes, and practices in socioemotional skills (by 10%), financial education and STEAM (by 66%), comprehensive sexual education (by 60%), and life planning (by 15%) in the four targeted Public Education Management Unit (UGEL)
  • 50% reduction in adolescent pregnancy cases in the participating schools, decreasing from 18 cases in 2022 to 9 cases in 2024.
  • 10 teachers certified in the NCO methodology over the past three years, promoting the program’s sustainability.

In 2025, our goal is to reach over 4300 students from peri-urban and rural areas in Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Arequipa and Amazonas. By fostering a comprehensive educational environment and promoting equal opportunities, the program Will continue to enhance students’ skills, strengthen their leadership, and create systemic changes within their communities, fostering an environment that supports their holistic development.

Moreover, to expand its impact and strengthen the program’s sustainability with the following objectives, we aim to:

  • Strengthen corporate partnerships, involving more companies in volunteering and mentoring initiatives.
  • Implement a sustainability and scalability model, ensuring that the Leaders Network and program initiatives can be maintained in the long term.
  • Develop the framework of the “Route of Opportunities” that GWO will build and that will increase the continuity of the educational trajectory of female students and their participation in STEAM careers, encouraging their involvement from school.
