Girls Who Code had a tremendous 2014!  We are grateful to the GlobalGiving community for your generousity as we work to bring computer science education to young women across the country.

Girls Who Code Clubs

In 2014 Girls Who Code launched 185 Clubs in 24 states, training more than 200 volunteer instructors and serving nearly 2,500 6th-12th grade girls. In addition to growing the number of Clubs in the U.S., the team pioneered exciting new partnerships including the Samsung Mobile App Challenge -- a contest inviting Clubs participants to create mobile apps to improve their school or community.  In 2015, look for more great mobile app challenges and Clubs across the entire country.

Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program

In 2014 Girls Who Code expanded the Summer Immersion Program to Miami, Boston, and Seattle for the first time, reaching 375 girls. In addition to rigorous CS education, the 7-week program included marquee events featuring Sheryl Sandberg, Jack Dorsey, and Chelsea Clinton, and engaged a record number of C-level executives from partner companies, including Jeff Bezos and John Donahoe. Our monitoring and evaluation report indicated that 94% of SIP participants said they were definitely or more likely to consider a major/minor in computer science, and 99% would recommend Girls Who Code to other girls.  In 2015, Girls Who Code will be hosting 57 Summer Immersion Programs across 8 regions nationwide, reaching 1,140 girls. This represents 200% growth over last year. We will be expanding into three new markets: Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Chicago.

With your support, these young women will RUN Silicon Valley!
