CS: It opens your eyes, and world!

On Monday, 100 young women in New York City showed up for their first day of Girls Who Code. As they opened their laptops, they stepped into a new world—within hours, they were building programs and instructing the computer to follow their commands. In just one week, Girls Who Code has completely changed Alex K's perception of computer science:"As a writer, I never, never, never thought I could code — I thought it involved heavy math and science (not my strongest suits), and thought that I had to have had prior experience to enter the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program. Absolutely none of that is true! Coding is really more of a language — a series of languages, actually — and so far, I’ve used math once. Take a chance! You’ll be glad you did."

When you empower girls in technology, there's no limit to what they will accomplish. That's why this summer Girls Who Code has expanded to launch 19 Summer Immersion Programs at leading tech companies in New York City, Boston, Miami, Seattle, and the Bay Area. This year, our programs are supported and hosted by Adobe, Amazon, AppNexus, AT&T, eBay, Facebook, GE, Goldman Sachs, Google, Knight Foundation, IAC, Intel, Intuit, Microsoft, Square, Twitter, and Verizon.

Thank you to all our supporters for making our work possible! Together we will reach girls like Alex all across the country and close the gender gap in technology.
