Girls Who Code: Building the Pipeline
Girls Who Code: Building the Pipeline

Dear Global Giving family,

Your support enabled amazing work in 2013:

  • 152 young women equipped with hard and soft skills to succeed in computing opportunities through Summer Immersion Programs
  • 99% of Summer Immersion Program particpants considering a career in technology and 95% considering majoring or minoring in CS in college
  • 600+ girls participated in 42 new Girls Who Code clubs nationwide
  • 70 volunteers recruited to teach clubs, providing exceptional instruction and mentorship
  • 700+ individuals engaged in 2013 Summer Immersion Programs and Girls Who Code Clubs, including CEOs, executives, and engineers serving as speakers, mentors, instructors, application evaluators, and advisors
  • 700% growth in programming, including delivery of 8 Summer Immersion Programs in 5 cities
  • 360% growth in full-time staff on the ground in New York, San Francisco, and Detroit
  • 150 new clubs to launch by Fall 2014, engaging upwards of 2,500 young women in communities nationwide

We are so grateful.

In this next year, thanks to your support, we are continuing this momentum and bringing computer science education to girls in communities across the country. We are motivated every day by our amazing students, who in recent weeks have been accepted as computer science majors at top universities across the country, have launched GWC clubs in their schools, and who continue to passionately encourage their sisters, friends, and one another to code. We can't wait to meet the next cohort of girls who code. Thank you for helping us change lives.

Check our 2013 Annual Report (link below) for more stories of sucess, and stay tuned for updates as we expand programming in 2014.

Thank you again,

The Girls Who Code team
