I shared with you earlier that “our” girls are amazingly hard working kids who deserve a hand up (not a handout)! Exciting year-end news from Association NEEED about “our” girls: 89.1% of girls supported by the Lambs Support Village Girls' Education Project in Burkina Faso passed the exit exam at the end of primary school this year and qualified to go on to middle school in comparison with 63% of all primary school students in northern Burkina Faso. This is the highest “pass rate” for our girls in the ten years since we have been getting this year-end data. With your generous continuing commitment, we’re able to support another 300 girls this school year.
Another exciting note: thanks to two generous partners, we’ve begun offering a few post secondary scholarships to girls from rural indigent families. This year, one of these students completed her second year of law school at the top of her class. Others are studying medicine, midwifery and nursing, or are in primary school teacher training. All are progressing well in their studies.
Our heartfelt thanks for your generous support for the young girls you are enabling to enter primary school! Your support, along with the parents’ commitment to their daughters’ educations and Association NEEED’s determination and perseverance to make girls’ education a priority in northern Burkina Faso, is producing success! The success of this project is seen both on an individual level as well as in terms of the multiplier effect of the project as parents find ways to expand the lambs resources they now have to send younger daughters to school.
As always, I welcome your questions and comments!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
