Super-motivation for IT Education
Super-motivation for IT Education

Thank you for supporting our initiative! For the fifth time we discussed the problems of traditionally female and male occupations and the raising demand for girls in technology,  science, information and communication technologies in Poland. Our project helps in promoting engineering and future-oriented professions among young women and raising awareness on gender equality.

On April the 26th 2012 – simultaneously with the European Girls in ICT Day – we organized annual The Day at Technical Universities: For Girls Only!. 7 thousand young women visited technical universities and took part in a wide range of activities. The programs at 16 participating universities were diversified, starting from the introductory university  presentations to laboratory tours with 3D scanning, fashion shows, high-voltage discharge, programming smartphones and looking at races of robots.

The following organizations participated in the 2012 program: DigiGirlz & Women in Technology, The Polish Patent Office, Office Of Electronic Communication, The Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications, as well as companies Symantec and GTech Poland calling the interest of the girls as potential well-educated workforce.

We also reported the change of students gender structure at Polish technical universities compiling a broad study “Girls at technical universities 2012” available at our website www.dziewczynynapolitechniki.pl.

We are hopeful that the next enrollment to Polish technical universities will show that the number of female students is still the fastest-growing figure  -  there are currently more by 5.3 thousand young women in technical universities than a year ago.
