Empower girls to engineer real change in the world

Great strides in spreading Girls Engineering Change

By Christine Schindler | Founder

As the middle school girls left their Girls Engineering Change session, I watched the room of volunteers erupt in a flurry of excitement. "My partner was so smart!" exclaimed Jessica. "She rocked the soldering iron!"

I took a deep breath and smiled at the overwhelming success the first Girls Engineering Change session had been. We had 6 girls come from the Durham area, and each was individually partnered with a student studying engineering at Duke University. It was evident that both the volunteers and the young girls loved the project. As I flipped through the pictures I had taken, one with each partner pair holding up the medical device they had just created, I couldn't help but smile at the huge grins on everyone's faces.

I cannot wait to continue holding these sessions, and watching girls grow while also doing something tangible to help someone else in the world. Thank you so much for all your help so far! You are helping to create a real change.
