Project Report | Jan 22, 2018
Just Like My Child Foundation Thanks You for the Difference You Made in 2017!

By Tessa Davis | Program Director

Girls are rising above the unreasonable circumstances of poverty, thanks to support from individuals like you. As 2017 has come to a close, all of us at Just Like My Child Foundation are reflecting back on the transformative impact we've been able to make for vulnerable adolescent girls in central Uganda. We couldn't have done any of it without you.

As of the end of 2017, the Girl Power Project has reached over 3,500 girls at 47 primary schools in central Uganda. At the halfway point of the program, results are showing that Girl Power Project participants are gaining more knowledge, life skills, and assets that strengthen their ability to successfully navigate adolescence:
81% of girls can identify the risks of early marriage
92% of girls can explain how a girl or woman becomes pregnant
60% of girls can identify ways to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS
93% of girls have a higher attitude regarding their self-esteem
61% of girls can identify bad touches
38% of girls can identify ways she can protect herself from rape

We look forward to reaching more girls in 2018 as there is still much to be done, though we can't do it alone. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

We hope you will continue to contribute and help empower vulnerable girls through the Girl Power Project. Please donate what you can. If you have already contributed, know that nothing inspires us more than having your support in this important work.

Here's to another year of Transforming the World, One Girl At A Time.
