Girl-mother Empowerment program

The role of this project “Girl-Mother empowerment programme” is making a lot of inroads now considering the very much that a lot of community visitations has been conducted in various communities with relevant messages “Girls must be Girls and Not mothers”. These messages were well embraced by stakeholders of these communities. Owing to the fact that they themselves are ready to change their attitude towards girls. Though, it was a bottleneck for them to accept change. This has been an ancient tradition that the best place for girls is in the kitchen and early and forceful marriages. During our engagement with these communities the message of accessing education and training, for these girl-mothers were well appreciated and stakeholders in the various communities consider it key as a means to stop these girls from prostitution, HIV-AIDS, poverty, etc. Since there is an alarming reports about the current rise of HIV/AIDS in the country more especially the northern region our focus on this project. The communities were gladly in supports of our stance and efforts. The strategy employed by the organisation really pays off as many girl-mothers who were victims of early and forceful marriages, teenage pregnancy are planning to return back to school base on available support. Though the project has identified a lot of these girl-mothers but still lack the required support to help these victims to go back to school. Moreover, our usual radio discussion programme which have gain a lot of momentum and has increased a lot of awareness among these sets of girls. The many feedbacks received during and after the programme, speaks a lot and also it create a platform for many stakeholders to make contributions. The idea of empowering these girl-mothers were well greeted during the phoning programme, it really shows some huge concerns and it was a burden to many who have these girl-children at heart. In actual sense, they are pleading for more supports to these girls, which could help them gain a life changing skills and make them independent. Though, this project is yet to attract the kind of support it should get, considering the fact that it is addressing a huge concerns about girls, this has really slow down its operations, because the support is not available to accomplish it set demands. The few donors to this project are well appreciated. But this project needs the required support to help the already identified Girl-Mothers. We cannot achieve this alone without your support. We are marvel with your social and humanitarian contribution towards these children, their families and The Needy Today. This has really speaks volumes in the lives of these children.

Your roles have been fascinated since you opted to join GlobalGiving Foundation in helping meaningful projects like ours. Some of these viable causes like ours do not attract major funding, but they are more real than even the ones that do. GlobalGiving has made the cries of these less fortunate be heard. Your contributions means the whole world to us, which has lift the poor out of poverty, give voice to the voiceless, agitate for the oppress, and creating and building bridges together for a better world. Your donations have made dropping out of school is no longer a reality within our areas of operations, continued campaign on ending early child marriages, FGM, Teenage pregnancy, Gender based violence, trained community volunteer to report on early child marriages, monitoring litigation on rape cases for minors in high courts.

Our quest for success was far fetched until you came around to support these causes by contributing your hard earning money and suggestions. From the depth of our hearts, we sincerely appreciate all your major contributions both recurring and one off. Even those who didn’t contribute financially but help create awareness about these causes, you are well appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.

You are truly a special partner to us, for putting smiles into the faces of these beneficiaries. Also, you have decided to support our mission and vision which is well appreciated, because of this we shall forever remain grateful to you and rest of your families for your unending love you continue to manifest. You are really one in a million, despite all the important things you have to address like family issues, cars, fuel, food, housing, etc you still squeeze and make a meaningful donation. I was actually pondering if you were not here with us to achieve this huge success and brining a lot of smiles into the faces of these beneficiaries. How exactly it should have been without you. God will reward you abundantly for such sacrifices in helping these children regain their lost glory. Because of this and all that you intend doing God in heaven will bless you and all that concerns you.

Our huge concern at the moment is that Sierra Leone is seriously battling with what has been described as a silent epidemic of sexual and gender based violence. According to a recent police statistics its clearly shows that 8500 girls has been sexually abused. The report further said that the figures are twice the ones reported, because plenty of these cases are kept under the carpet. The government has declared it as a national emergency which requires urgent actions be taken. As an organisation working tirelessly against sexual violence and gender based issues, we deemed it fit to go into action but we cannot achieve this alone without your support. Our quest to partner with you stems from the very fact that you have passion to put an end to such practices.

We will continue to update you about our achievement and how your monies are spent. On behalf of ‘The Needy Today’, we want to say a big thank you for your supports, donations and unending love you continue to manifest. We cannot sit down silently by failing to wish you happy Easter and God’s richest blessings.

Furthermore, our campaigns are online and they need more support to meet the needs of poverty stricken children left behind, to access their basic rights and achieve great success.
