By Fr. Joy Nedumparambil | Executive Director, BREADS, Bangalore

A Big Thank You from all of us here!!!
A Big Thank You from all of us here!!!

Dear Donors,

Greetings from BREADS Bangalore!

The support from GlobalGiving has provided quality education services for 144 less privileged girl children.  All the children are studying in different schools with good performance. The GlobalGiving support has helped us to provide dresses, uniforms books and other education materials for the children in addition to the school fees.  All the children supported under this education sponsorship are either rescued child labourers or school dropouts. From September to November 2017 we had organized number of programmes for the children in different Don Bosco Institutions in North Karnataka. The following are the programmes conducted during the reporting period

Teacher’s day:  The Children organized many cultural programmes in their schools to recognize and appreciate the services of their teachers and as a token of the gratitude.

International Girl Child Day was celebrated a grand way in all the Don Bosco Institutions and schools where the supported children are studying. Awareness on gender equality, importance of the education of girl children was given to the parents and adults. The girl children exhibited their talents by performing dance, songs, skits and paintings.

Children’s Day was celebrated in all the schools and Don Bosco Institutions as “Child Rights Day”. The children were given chances to play, group building and perform their talents through various programmes and activities. Awareness on child rights was also given to the children.

During this reporting period we received USD 639.00 from global giving for the project which was used for the education, food, clothes and education materials of the poor girl children. Now all the children are studying in formal schools as 24 children who are undergoing the bridge school was successfully completed their course.

The children are regularly followed up by Don Bosco/BREADS staff in order to ensure their continuity in schools and improve education standard. One parents meetings was organized during the year and request the parental support to assure the retention of the children in schools and monitor the study progress in the school. The children were also motivated to join the evening tuition classes started in their villages by BREADS and use the facility to improve their education standard and do the school assignment with the help of mentors.

The support from the donors through GlobalGiving platform was really a boon for the less privileged girl children, which assured quality education and a better life. The children and parents hereby express their happiness and gratitude to all the donors and well-wishers of GlobalGiving.

We have updated the existing project by increasing the budget to ensure the continuity of the education of 144 girl children.

BREADS thankfully acknowledges the valuable support through GlobalGiving which helped the poor girl children to have a brighter future.

A Big Thank You from all of us here!!!
