As the temperature cools down in the fall and winter months, our community programs' team gears up to organize more screening camps for cataract patients in remote rural villages. Villages are selected and patients who require surgical or any other intervention are being brough to the base hospital for the same.
Under this entire program for the last three months i.e. Spetember, October and November'2016, number patients who got benefitted through these were 3061. They were examined free of cost and necessary treatment was provided. Out of these, there were 1383 patients who required surgery to regain their lost vision. They undervent surgery without paying a single penny for it.
India predominantly being a rural community, topped by low literacy levels and poor economy in these reguons; it is generally observed that masses from these communities would not opt for eye care or even general health care on their own. In such a situation, organizing free screening camps for identification of prospective patients becomes quite cruicial for eye care planners and helpful for the rural communities.
More such programs and efforts are required as the backlogo of blindness is too big a number. Support from donors for our programs will help us provide services to more patients in need. It has been the support and confidence of the our previous donors and well wishers in our activities that helps us to set bigger targets for our work. Your extended help will add a great milstone in our journey towards a blindness free nation.
