COVID 19 panedemic has affected the entire world and unfortuantely eye care servcie delivery has been immensely affecteed. Especially in India, in various parts of the country, depending upon the extent of COVID spread in communities, there have been restrictions from the Government's end to conduct any kind of outreach activities related to eye care. This has created a big gap in continuity of the care. With the second wave spreading fast, the last quarter has been low on eye care.
However, a reasonable amount was work was done in April 2021 and a very lttle amount in May 2021. June 2021 did not witness any community eye care activity at our centre and anywhere in the state of Rajasthan, India.
A total of 1618 patients were provided free eye care treatment through camps or at the base hospital for various eye diseases. Various camps were organized in the months of March and April, through which 182 patients were provided with free surgical support. Patients were brought in to the base hospital for surgeries and transported back to their respective villages. Our team worked tirelessly during such difficult times to reach out to as many people in the communities as they could. In the month of May, there was hardly any work done due to the surging Covid situation.
