Alakh Nayan Mandir in fulfillment of its mission of 'Quality Vision to All', has been providing free eye treatment to patients from remote rural regions through various outreach community programs. However, for the past three months, due to COVID 19, situations were different. To avoid large public gatherings, our masss screening camps were put on hold. But our local village volunteers were active in identifying patients who required surgery or other eye treatment, but could not afford to get operated in the local hospitals. They were then referred to the base hospital of Alakh Nayan Mandir for further interventions. Besides, there have been patients which were identified and tranported through our Community Health Worker by our transportaion. This has helped many patients reach out to us even in absence of mass screening camps.
Our village Vision Centres have also played key role in catering to the needs of these patients. The door step care that was delivered to these patients helped regain their lost eye sight free of any cost.
The quantum of work has been less as compared to our preveious years, but the personalized care has increased because of the current situation. Our team ensured, mainaitence of proper safety and hygiene during all procedures. In all, 493 patients were provided free treatment at their door step and a total of 362 patients were provided free cataract and other sight restoring surgeries.
