Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute has been providing free services for the economically under privileged eye patients of regions in Southern Rajasthan, India. Cataract camps services are being offered on a regular basis. These sight restoring surgeries are done for patients being brought to the base hospital after extensive door to door screening, motivation then followed by preliminary vision testing and eye checkup at the camp site in villages.
Through these efforts of reducing blindness, Alakh Nayan Mandir has examined and treated 11731 patients in the months of February, March and April 2019. Various eye screening camps were organized to extend our services to the most under served population of this region. 602 patients were operated upon absolutely free of cost for various eye ailments, majority of them being cataracts.
These interventions have helped patients to decrease their dependency on others and lead a quality life. 46 vision testing camps were organized in remote regions in this hot summer. Besides during the village awareness campaigns, door to door screenigs were also done to identify old and debilitated patients who had less probability of turning up on the camp day.
Alakh Nayan Mandir wishes to expand itself to reach out to more and more such vulnerable population, in order to give them a "Gift of Sight". It is you, our donors, who can help us achieve this. Funding from more supporters for such cataract surgeries will help us provide services to a large population of Southern Rajasthan where magnitude of blindness is quite high as compared to other parts of India.
