During the past three months from November 2018 till January 2019, more than 10300 patients have been screened through various free eye screening camps. 2350 patients were identified with eye diseases and out of these 1832 surgeries have been performed at the base hospital absolutely free of cost. These surgeries have helped patients regains their lost eye sight and are now able to lead better quality of life. Their dependency on others has reduced and a sense of well-being has increased.
Organizing eye checkup camps in remote rural regions around the base hospital is Udaipur; Rajasthan, India is an integral and important part of our activity. This helps us to identify patients with eye ailments. They are then motivated to get further treatment by way of surgery or any other intervention as required. Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute has been involved in such programs to not only provide direct treatment but also bring about awareness in the uneducated rural masses about eye health.
Here’s Sumit Soni, a little boy aged 8 years, who hails from a poor economic background. He was suffering from Congenital Cataract since birth and sadly hadn’t seen this beautiful world till now. He was operated at Alakh Nayan Mandir for both eyes and he has now regained vison in his eyes. He is delighted to come out of his darkness and experience the light now.
All our activities can be enhanced by the support of donors like you. Our donors have not just supported our cause but have also guided on improvising our program. Further support from donors will certainly help us to help many such like Sumit.
