When we saw preschool children in underserved Indian villages sitting in sparse rooms with little or no stimuli and no interaction, we decided to act — and we invited you to join us.
Together, we have been improving the situation by providing toys, training, and support so that children in critical developmental stages receive engaging cognitive education. We're happy to report that these efforts are making a difference! As shared by Sumati Hansda, a nursery employee in Jharkhand:
"The children are initially scared and timid when they join in the beginning – but become much more confident and playful by the time they leave. Our kids are more engaged with the learning process, more excited to come to school, and they are better prepared to attend primary school."
In the centers we have reached with our Early Child Care and Development Program so far, attendance is up and children are more engaged. As one of the parents reports, even on holidays children want to go to school now!
Thank you for bringing the gift of play to young children in India! Active support from people around the world is helping us give children in need important skills they can carry with them throughout their lives.
Please share our project with others and join our online community to follow updates of the impact of this very important program.
