Two Wheelchairs to two people

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

We are pleased to share with you an update on RWAYDAVO’s wheelchair donation initiative, which aims to support people living with disabilities who are unable to afford essential mobility aids.

On September 5, 2026, RWAYDAVO volunteers had the opportunity to donate two wheelchairs to two people living with disabilities who experience significant mobility challenges. This support represents an important step in our commitment to promoting dignity, independence, and inclusion for vulnerable members of our community.

The two beneficiaries who received wheelchairs were:

  • Calvin, 13 years old – one wheelchair
  • Gertrude, 22 years old – one wheelchair

For the protection and privacy of the beneficiaries, their personal contact information is kept confidential.

Our Progress

During the summer of 2026, our initial goal was to provide wheelchairs to 10 people living with disabilities who could not afford appropriate mobility aids.

Unfortunately, because of insufficient funding, we have so far been able to support only 2 people.

This means that:

  • Initial summer target: 10 people
  • People supported: 2
  • Wheelchairs donated: 2
  • Progress: 20%
  • People still in need: 8

Although we were not able to reach our initial target because of limited funding, we are deeply grateful that we were able to provide these two wheelchairs. Each wheelchair represents more than a physical device, it represents an opportunity for greater mobility, independence, dignity, and participation in everyday life.

For the beneficiaries, having access to a wheelchair can make it easier to attend school, access healthcare, participate in family and community activities, and move around with greater independence.

Our Continued Appeal

Unfortunately, 8 people from our initial target still remain in need of wheelchairs. Beyond this immediate target, RWAYDAVO has a broader goal of supporting 50 people living with disabilities with appropriate mobility aids.

We therefore kindly appeal to our patrons, donors, partners, and well-wishers to continue supporting this initiative. With additional financial support, we can reach more people who are currently unable to move independently because they cannot afford a wheelchair.

Every contribution can make a difference. A donation can help provide someone with the ability to move, participate, and live with greater dignity and independence.

We sincerely thank everyone who has supported RWAYDAVO and made these first two wheelchair donations possible. Your generosity and commitment are helping us bring hope and meaningful change to people who need it most.

We look forward to continuing this journey together and reaching more people living with disabilities.

With sincere gratitude,

RWAYDAVO
