The Get Ready Girls under your support have completed half the journey of the six-month program.
This month, we welcome a new girl into the class. We also piloted a Direct Cash Aid program with three families of the Get Ready Girls. This cash assistance replaces the income that was lost as they have chosen to study instead of working. It has worked very well with our families and we’ve started implementing a new scale taking into consideration the number of children below 18 in the family, disabled member, elderly members over 50 years old and pregnant women.
We will continue to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of this scale so as to ensure that they will graduate successfully.
Besides the academic aspects of the curriculum, our girls are enjoying yoga classes, field trips to the Outdong mountain and learning about make-up, debt management, financial management and budgeting. Parents of these girls get to go through budgeting as well so that all members in the family have their priorities aligned.
In another three months, we’ll see them return to the state school and start apprenticeships in safe jobs. Let’s cheer them on and let them know that their dream of a better future is within their reach. Thank you very much for your support!
