A belated Happy New Year, GENterprisers!
We at GEN have really hit the ground running this year. So much has already happened, it’s hard to believe we’re only three months into 2016. Here is a little update to inspire you to grab the year of the monkey by the horns!
Zest, our first skills-building SME, is on a fast moving track to profitability by April – we hired a new batch of Zestars in January and are in the process of interviewing yet another at the moment. Our customer base has expanded by 30% since January alone, and our best Zestars are swiftly being promoted to higher positions.
In other news, the 2016 Challenge Cup – a prestigious annual startup competition spanning over 50 global cities in the search for the best ideas to solve the world's biggest challenges – came to Lagos on the 22nd of January 2016. We had the immense honour of hosting the competition in Lagos and witnessing Lagos’ most compelling start-ups compete for the opportunity to advance to the Challenge Cup regional competition in Nairobi. We wish them the very best for the finals in June!
Lastly, we are in the process of establishing the GEN Startup Academy (GSA) – a rigorous, fast-paced hub that will provide the training, resources, funding opportunities, and much more, to entrepreneurs and startups in Lagos. Keep your eyes and ears open for this one!
Thank you for your support,
The GEN team
