2014 Updates on GEN's Impact

By Michael Kuntz | COO and President

Timi's Enterprise
Timi's Enterprise
If you're receiving this, thank you! Your investment and kindness in the past has helped us - Generation Enterprise (GEN) - professionalize the organization, continue to invest in youth in low-income megacities in Nigeria and India, and improve our Fellows' businesses and livelihood.
Our model provides marketable skills training and creates jobs for young people living in poverty across megacities. In Nigeria, over 300 youth have benefited from high quality entrepreneurial education program, which is hands-on/applied, generates income that allows low-income to continue their education without dropping out of work, and creates sustainable jobs in urban developing areas. We have tested 60+ businesses, and have a current portfolio of 20+ companies, 10+ of which are growing from micro to small. A great example of our impact is evident with Timilehan, a young entrepreneur from Lagos that partnered with GEN for business training and support. Timi started a video, music and electronics rental and retail company that has expanded and created jobs in his community.  Before GEN, he had been homeless and living off less than $2 a day.   Timi, like so many other entrepreneurs that have partnered with GEN to develop sustainable businesses in their communities, has changed his livelihood forever.
Like Timi, there are other examples of young entrepreneurs that have gone from poverty to self-sufficiency to community leadership. This Tuesday, December 2nd, we're asking for your help again. Generation Enterprise is at a turning point with a number of the youth ventures maturing and ready to enter the formal sector (registering and becoming legal). For this enterprise to truly have an impact, creating jobs for many others in the community, they need this formalization and the support systems to bring on, train, and manage new workers. For that, we need to raise $30,000 by year end. We're hoping you'll join us in supporting GEN with an additional contribution on Tuesday, December 2nd.
Thanks again for your support! Last year, we raised over $15,000 via GlobalGiving thanks to you. We're sure that with your continued support and GENerosity, we'll be able to raise the money to continue scaling our enterprises to create livelihoods and employment. We are committed to investing in this generation's youth at the Bottom of the Pyramid. We've been called a "ticking time bomb." But there's another way to look at us. We're not a "lost generation." We are GENERATION ENTERPRISE.
