Dear Friends,

It has been a profoundly impactful and memorable first quarter of this year, so we are overjoyed and eager to share with you the news and achievements that have been made possible thanks to your heartfelt generosity.

Open Satsang in Rishikesh

This Rishikesh season has left deep impressions in the lives of those who participated in Satsang, with Mooji Baba himself saying that we have seen a mass awakening in Rishikesh this season. From 16 February to 19 March 2017, 27 Open Satsangs took place for free in Rishikesh, India, with up to 2,122 participants attending daily. During this period, over 340 people volunteered their time and love to make this event possible. These Satsangs were also broadcast live and free with a high of 3,695 viewers for one Satsang, an increase of 86% on last year’s peak.

Two large Satsangs were held at the International Yoga Festival, Parmarth Niketan Ashram and one was held at the government sponsored International Yoga Festival at Ganga View Resort. Sri Mooji was also invited to hold an additional Satsang at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram (Beatles Ashram) where 500 people filled the capacity of this historic ticketed event with all of the proceeds going to Rajaji Tiger Reserve, where the ashram is located.

Rishikesh Live Translation Project

Building on the success of last year’s Rishikesh season, Satsang was live (simultaneous)  interpreted into 13 different languages (Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Serbian, Romanian, Chinese, Polish, German, Hindi and Hungarian). The translations were available to participants in the Satsang hall via wifi with a smartphone based system, and to online viewers via live broadcast.

50 volunteer interpreters gave up their seats in the hall to lovingly offer live interpreting to help share Satsang with people all over the world. A further 7 volunteers helped to coordinate this project, manage the IT,  and offer support and equipment to those tuning in at the venue. The overall sound quality was much improved because of newly acquired dynamic microphones which were used for each interpreter.

Up to 35 Hindi listeners per Satsang were provided with earphones to listen in the hall; many Hindi speakers of the local community do not own Smartphones. And because many members of the local community have to work during Satsang hours, the Hindi translation was also broadcast on loudspeakers in the street outside the ashram for the local community to enjoy.

Sharing Satsang Online

In this first quarter, much beautiful work went into sharing Mooji’s Satsangs through various online media.

  • Youtube: By the end of this quarter 46 new videos were uploaded and there was a total of 112,490 subscribers to the Moojiji Youtube channel.
  • Facebook: By the end of March there were 325,746 followers of Mooji on Facebook who were touched by the 54 Mooji quotes and other daily posts during this period.
  • Mooji Answers: 505 emails were received in this quarter, of which 94 were statements of gratitude or testimonies.  309 replies were sent, each offering guidance and answers to Satsang questions.
  • Mooji TV: 39 videos were uploaded and 4 audio uploads were added. The average number of daily visits to Mooji TV was 7,011; 17% of these were new to Mooji TV. By the end of the quarter there was a total of 959 videos available for free on Mooji TV.
  • Sahaja Express: Sahaja Express is the subscription channel, with 1,336 subscribers by the end of the quarter.  In this quarter, 76 videos were shared on Sahaja Express.

Monte Sahaja

Whilst much of the Mooji Sangha team were supporting the Satsang event in Rishikesh, there was also a very productive team at Monte Sahaja who continued to evolve, repair and beautify Monte Sahaja as well as being fully with the early morning live Satsang broadcasts from India.

Gangotri Biopool

This beautiful water contemplation space and ecosystem saw some of its final stages of completion this quarter.  The water has been pumped into the pond and monitoring of the pH levels have shown good results for the plants and fish. Two pagodas were built, one over a walkway and another is over a T-shaped platform which extends over the water. Large stones have been carefully placed around the pond area and platforms made for plants inside the pond. The entrance area was completed with terraces and both wooden and stone steps in a rustic style.

Dining Area

A deck to extend the main dinning area was designed. The work for this extension was started and almost 50% of the project was completed in the first quarter. The work is ongoing and the deck is due for completion in the second quarter.

Accommodation

The Kathmandu camping area was given a new waterproof roof. There were also ongoing repairs and maintenance to accommodation huts and row houses. Newly acquired accommodation in the local village has had it’s bathroom fully fitted, with painting, electricals and plumbing completed throughout the building. Furniture has also been made for the bedrooms and kitchen.

Compost Toilets

Seven cubicle and urinal compost toilets were partially completed in the first quarter and will be finished in the second quarter.

Greywater System

The greywater project is a vital part of our efforts to save water and to protect the environment. Plumbing and drainage ditches for a soakaway were completed below the Kathmandu terraces and will supply quality irrigation to olive trees that will be planted on these terraces.

Land Care

This quarter 70 olive trees, over 100 years old, were planted. A total of 230 large and small trees were planted in this quarter along with 137 bushed plants. 17 steps were built in order to make the land more accessible. Other landcare activities included: gravel on pathways, strimming grass, pruning and staking trees, and potting plants.

Sponsorships & Grants

Mooji Foundation granted three sponsorships for individuals with financial difficulties to visit or stay longer in Monte Sahaja Ashram. Two individuals were also given grants to attend Satsangs in Rishikesh, India.

International Sangha

This Satsang season in Rishikesh, India  provided an excellent opportunity for over 200 sangha members from 41 countries to join gatherings in person to share learnings, and discuss the inner workings of the groups and the issues they face. 17 meetings were held; the result was more clarity, empowerment, and a renewed enthusiasm amongst beings unified and shining in Sri Mooji Baba’s teachings.

The International Sangha Team also received over 1,200 responses to a survey that was sent out, which will help them to better understand, support and develop the growing number of groups around the world. As part of this development project, a ‘Core Sanghas’ group was created with the intention of engaging more mature groups in supporting each other and younger groups. Various meetings were held online. Bi-weekly gatherings will be ongoing into the next quarter.
