Dear Friends,
We are happy to provide an update on the work of our social venture Light in Our Home, as well as an update on the progress of Global Grassroots' work to support change agent teams like Light in Our Home more broadly:
LIGHT IN OUR HOME UPDATE
This year, Light in Our Home worked with district officials to recognize the people who benefited from their program as public examples of the team's work in reducing gender-based violence. Led by Monique Mukakageli, this venture team has been doing significant advocacy work, training local authorities and school administrators to mobilize against gender-based violence. So far, they have trained 384 local leaders who have, in turn, brought their new knowledge and skills to share with their communities.
Light in Our Home project leaders also helped to coordinate a new Global Grassroots training program in conscious social change and social entrepreneurship for venture team members who were not originally elected by their teams to attend the first Academy for Conscious Change. Further, project leader Monique Mukakageli, serves on Global Grassroots' Rwandan Advisory Council, which reviewed our entire program, goals, evaluation process and curriculum this year providing valuable recommendations for our efficiency and impact. Monique, who serves on her local women's council and works as a headmistress of a local school ran for Parliament in the last election.
