Your Women’s Empowerment Gift helps set up women-led savings and loans groups to support local women to set up their own businesses, providing an income to buy food, shelter and safety.

SCOEN with your: -

• $10 will Support women access to loans not available through commercial lenders. 
• $50 will help established support groups to support up  239 survivors of violence 
• $50 will help women survivors of violence in Uganda undergo counselling.
• $100 will support more 178 police officers, judicial officials and doctors in Uganda  trained on evidence gathering and medical examination protocols for victims of sexual offences.

The program supports women: -

• To build leadership skills
• Gender equality in decision making
• protect women from violence
• Working with women and men to change attitudes

SCOEN have been able to engage 123 young people (aged 15-25 years), with their youth leaders and volunteers through a process of interaction, reflection and action.

Participants supported to make connections financial institutions to access credit and capacity building for their rural savings groups.

Key successes 

• We significantly increased the number of women and girls at risk of gender-based violence being supported. This was particularly important given the high levels of violence being reported linked to Covid-19 effects. 
• We recorded increases in women’s confidence with respect to raising their voices, protecting their rights and accessing resources as a result of our work. 
• We saw an increase in the proportion of men and women participating in our gender programmes who believe it is wrong to commit violence against women and girls.
