Displaced families residing in makeshift tent encampments across Khan Younis face extreme vulnerability due to severe food insecurity and fragile shelter conditions. Responding to these urgent gaps, BESME INSANI implemented a targeted humanitarian assistance project delivering essential food and winterization support. Through this localized operation, our field team distributed fresh bread rations and 150 heavy-duty waterproof plastic tarpaulins ($4\times6\text{m}$) to 150 impoverished households, directly aiding approximately 750 individuals.
The majority of shelter tents in the target site consisted of worn canvas and brittle plastic sheeting that offered zero defense against rain and cold winds. The distributed $4\times6\text{m}$ plastic sheeting provided an immediate waterproof barrier over leaking tents, preserving dry interior living spaces and protecting families' few remaining household possessions. In parallel, daily bread distributions ensured that children received warm, nourishing meals despite widespread local bakery disruptions.
Field logistics were managed under strict safety and quality monitoring protocols. Staff members verified beneficiary vouchers against pre-assessed registration lists, ensuring equitable distribution to high-need families, including orphan households and persons with disabilities. Team members also assisted elderly beneficiaries in carrying their plastic tarpaulins directly to their shelters.
Receiving fresh bread and shelter insulation lifts a heavy burden from impoverished parents struggling to survive. BESME INSANI continues to work tirelessly on the ground in Southern Gaza, securing vital resources to maintain rapid-response food and shelter interventions for vulnerable displaced communities.
