EACD's new multipurpose Career Learning Center in a rural village near Faisalabad, Pakistan, is rising from the ground - but within six months, when construction is complete, it will stand empty. Children, women, and families are waiting. The programs are ready. What's missing is furniture - the pieces that turn an empty building into a warm, dignified space for real learning and community life. Our programs have grown from 25 children to 150+, and from 12 women trained to 450+.
EACD has labored for years to build a permanent home for its community programs - a multipurpose Career Learning Center housing a computer lab, sewing room, hall, office, and gathering spaces, now under construction near Faisalabad. Without furniture and flooring, it can't serve its purpose. Children can't sit on bare floors for hours of instruction. Staff can't work without desks and storage. Community gatherings can't happen in an empty hall - each day unfurnished is a day of lost opportunity.
GlobalGiving funds will fully furnish EACD's Career Learning Center - chairs for children and staff, student desks and worktables, office furniture and storage, and quality carpet flooring for the main community hall (46x25 ft) and three additional rooms including the office (each 17x21 ft). Carpeting will make the space warm, safe, and comfortable for children during floor-based group activities, giving the center a professional, dignified appearance.
A fully furnished center will let EACD run multiple programs at once - computer classes, sewing training, community meetings, and children's education - serving 300+ community members weekly. Proper seating and flooring will make the space accessible to elderly members, young children, and those with mobility challenges. Our programs have grown from 25 children to 150+, and from 12 women trained to 450+. This center is the next chapter of that story.
