Our adult school students have finished their first term and all of them have successfully achieved the goals set out for them. It has been hard work not only learning the content but also learning how to remain focused for long periods of time in a classroom setting.
At the end of the term, students had to sit a Thai state exam, which enables them to get results that are recognised by employers and other educational institutions later on. For some, this was their first exam, while others remembered times when they failed exams at previous schools. All of the students passed, with only 2 needing to resit the exam.
The English class in the afternoon is going very well and the students all passed this exam which was both oral and written. Students are now even more keen to start term 2 at the end of October with these successes under their belt and confidence that they can be successful.
Another important part of the program is teaching the student's life skills. Last term they focused on learning how to grow simple vegetables and herbs which they then collected and used to cook their own lunch. In this way, education encompasses the whole person in all aspects of their life which leads to real change.
